Countdown, Classmates!

Has it really been five years?! Sure doesn't seem so, but I guess that's true enough. I'm finally off the deep-seas runs, although am keeping my hand in the industry by regularly attending vessels in a marine consulting capacity. As a result, I'm home more now than I've been in the last 34 revoultions around the sun, and have been thoroughly enjoying the experience. No clinging to bulkheads in storms, biting my tongue in dealing with testy shore communications, demands and directions, no more madly maneuvering through small-boat traffic in congested waters and fog.

Fortunately, I was able to remain in touch with many of you during the half-decade, and even convinced one particularly courageous '68 soul to visit my Ship on her final port stop in San Diego, and then to also brave the rigors on our property up here in the Great Northwest. J-Lit was an absolute hit with the Family, don't you know, not that that is of any surprise. (By the way, do ask him about his phenomenal Candle Trick, won't you? My words cannot adequately describe the eventt.. ) For the rest of you in the future, our offer remains open.

Laura and I will, of course, be attending the extravaganza in July 2013 - a little older, a little wiser, but no less excited to be meeting up again with those outstanding personalities who shared the formative days right along with me, and have, no doubt whatsoever, survived the ensuing ride quite nicely!

See You,

Rick

Comment: Wow, looking forward to our 55th Reunion, hope you all can make it!  We have so much fun planning these, and aren't we thankful that we got our 50th in before the pandemic? It will be great to have Dean Atkinson as our DJ this year, so don't miss out on the fun!

All is well here, and I'm enjoying this time of life. I'm spending more time at my beachfront condo in Rosarito, and working on my espanol. It's a nice break from Coronado when the crowds descend in summer. And I'm spoiled with my international destination just a 45-minute drive away.

Comment: Not sure what all the wonder is- it feels like 40 years to me! It was good to see the faces and comments on the site- made me smile- glad you found the Lord Jim! Following a stint in the USMC as a fighter pilot, 6 years in sales and marketing for Bristol-Myers, and 18 years with our own computer company, Julie and I sold it, moved to North Idaho and live in the woods.  Right now I'm in the middle of a huge project for Northrop, so we will not be able to be there- but I wish you all the best and may God richly Bless you all.
P.S. Susan- glad to see you're still a Messmer! You need to get ahold of Tom Darcy- he is still in San Diego- his dad and my dad are golf buddies!
